Shrinking Cities

I’ve long photographed Detroit, written about Detroit, and discussed Detroit. It’s amazing that it can still capture so much interest in passion years later.

Interestingly, what caught my eye, and caused me to watch the video is the thumbnail for the video. The house was immediately familiar. I have photographed it multiple times over the years. At first I thought that maybe it was my photo, just reversed, but on further inspection, it looks different.

In the past I had a lot to say about Detroit. Now, I have slightly less to say. Detroit still interests me. I still like to spend time there, but I’m a little tired of the endless discussions about it’s problems and the causes. Suffice it to say, Detroit has plenty of problems, and just as many causes, but it’s got some good things going, and is home to more than 600,000 people.
