Detroit in black and white

I mostly photograph the city in color. Usually using 120 color film. Sometimes I use transparency film, and sometimes it’s digital. But, generally it’s in color. A long time ago, I worked quite a bit in black and white, shot only film, processed my own film, and printed in a traditional darkroom. While I miss the results, I don’t miss spending a good part of the day in a dark room filled with caustic chemicals.

Now, whether I shoot film, or digital, it all ends up in Photoshop. Black and white prints from color printers, or a Chromogenic process don’t have quite the look and feel of a good fiber based paper, processed in a darkroom. Either way, I like black and white, and think I should do more of it.
