As we close in on the end of our time with a view like this, I become more and more obsessed with photographing any interesting view of Mt. Evans. Fortunately yesterday morning provided a rather nice sunrise.
Of course today it snowed, and while it's beautiful in it's own right, I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to see Mt. Evans at all. Just now, the clouds have lifted enough to begin exposing the foothills, including Green Mtn. If Mt. Evans does come out, I'll be ready.

This photo of Spaceley Sprockets was taken in 2002.
I was reminded of this area of Detroit, along the riverfront, after talking to another former Michigander. We were reminiscing about the City, and somehow got on the topic of this particular area.
The area was to be the permanent home for Detroit's casinos. The current locations of the casinos were to be temporary, and in order to make way for this grand riverfront development, a lot of good businesses had to close. I don't know if this was one or not, but the Soup Kitchen Saloon, and the Rhinoceros Club were.

On Monday I was interviewed by Kai Ryssdal for American Public Media's Marketplace program, which was quite a highlight for me as I listen to the show on a daily basis. I was a bit nervous, but all in all, I think it turned out pretty well.
If you are interested in hearing it, you can listen over at the Marketplace website: marketplace.publicradio.org
Front range lightning

The other benefit of living in a hi-rise with a good view, is the access to great lightning shots. I'll miss watching storms roll in with impressive lightning just about as much as I'll miss the view of Mt. Evans.
